University of Health Sciences (UHS), holds both MCAT & MDCAT entry test examinations. MCAT stand for Medical College Admission Test. While, MDCAT stands for Medical Dental College Admission Test. In order to get admission in Medical College or Medical Dental College. It’s compulsory to pass MCAT or MDCAT entry test examination, respectively.
What are MCAT or MDCAT Tests?
The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a standardized examination for prospective medical students in Pakistan. It is compulsory to pass MCAT, for getting admission in medical colleges.
Similarly, The Medical Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is a standardized examination for prospective medical dental students in Pakistan. It is compulsory to pass MDCAT, for getting admission in medical dental colleges.

What is the MCAT & MDCAT Examination Pattern?
University holds both tests in the of September, every year. Both MCAT & MDCAT are same in nature, as, both tests have 1100 total marks. Similarly, both tests include questions from four subjects i.e Biology, Chemistry, Physics & English. All questions are from your intermediate part 1 & 2 syllabus. Therefore, once again you need to deeply read the same subjects.
If any student achieves 500 marks out of 1100, he/she will be considered as pass candidate. But, keep in mind, there is also negative marking, your one wrong answer, lowers your achieved marks. Hence, be sure about your answers.
What is Eligibility Criteria for MCAT & MDCAT?
1. Open Merit Seats Eligibility:
Following students are eligible for both MCAT & MDCAT examinations.
- Students, who have passed HSSC/FSc Pre-Medical or Equivalent Examination with minimum 60% marks.
- Those students, who have passed foreign qualifications (e.g., A-Levels) must have studied Biology, Chemistry & Physics/Mathematics.
- The candidates, who have appeared in the Provincial Admission Test of his/her respective province.
2. Foreign Seats Eligibility:
- The candidates, who hold foreign or dual nationality (to be verified by his/her valid foreign passport) or have overseas status (to be verified by Resident Permit or Iqama, etc.)
- The candidates, who have passed HSSC/FSc Pre-Medical or equivalent examination from Pakistan or abroad with minimum 60% marks.

NOTE: As per PM&DC Regulations 2018, applicant desirous of admission in private medical and dental institution shall submit a wealth statement of either parent/guardian. Equivalent to five years tuition fee, income tax return of either parent/guardian.
And shall also submit insurance certificate to ensure the payment of fees for the remaining duration the course in case of demise of parent/guardian. These documents shall be submitted at the college after admission. Candidates are not required to provide these with their applications.

How to Achieve High Marks in MCAT & MDCAT Tests? Best Guidelines to Follow
- Some questions seem to be difficult, but, such questions are more tricky than to be difficult. Therefore, read them carefully & recall all your knowledge with relaxed mind.
- Read each question at least two times, before you encircle the answer.
